1. While cooking your yam or white rice, to avoid boiling water from overflowing and putting off the fire, place a wooden spoon on top of the pot, without the pot covered or you can add a little groundnut oil.
2. If your soup got spoiled, add small piece of charcoal, red oil, and stock cube and your soured soup is as good as new one.
3. If your rice taste sour or has smell, due to heat or covering for long time, just put a piece of charcoal on top of the rice and warm it. The charcoal will absorb the bad smell.
4. To make your meat sweet more, marinate it or season it for 20 to 40 minutes before steaming.
5. To make your water leaf not to be watery, put it in a pot without stirring, do not cover the pot. Let it boil a little before you stir.
6. The three important things to note while cooking are: colour, flavour, and texture.
7. Do not leave your spoon inside your pot, or else it will spoil the food quick.
8. Whenever you are cooking your stew, remember not to add too much salt, because of your meat stock will still go in.
9. Never use your kitchen spoon to turn your Jollof rice; you can even divide the rice into 2 parts, but rather use your wooden spoon.
10. Parboil your rice and wash or soak your rice with hot water and salt for few minutes before washing, and then cook.
11. You can use salt to parboil your rice, in order to remove the starch from the rice quick.
12. Make sure you parboil your rice for 5 to 10 minutes, before rinsing with clean water.
13. Whenever, you are cooking any of the foodstuffs like beans, rice etc. always boil the water, before adding the foodstuff.
14. To avoid the smell of cabbage while cooking, keep a piece of bread on the cabbage vessel while cooking.
15. To peel potato skin quickly, just soak in coal water immediately after boiling.
16. When you have excessive pepper in your soup or stew, just use a whole onion bulb, without cutting it, and put in the soup or stew, it will draw the excessive pepper.
17. If you accidentally burnt a stew while cooking it, just pour the stew in a new pot and add small sugar, the sugar will remove the burned taste.
18. If you don't want your bitter leaf to bitter in whatever soup you are cooking or you can't wash the bitter leaf properly, please don't worry of the bitterness. Whenever you are cooking the bitter leaf soup, at the boiling point, put it into the pot without stirring it and cover the pot. Don't stir until it is has boiled for up to 5 minutes before you will stir it and it will taste nice.
19. Covering your Jollof rice with the cooking sheet ( foil paper ) will help it to keep the taste intact, give it a smoky party Jollof rice aroma and also make it soft and separate from each other.
20. Always marinate your chicken or meat with pepper, onion, garlic, ginger, curry powder, thyme and set aside for 30 minutes to 1hour, before cooking.
